Spirituality is a tough subject to discuss. Maybe because for many people, it is the basis of their identity, and they may fight hard to defend it.
So I have something to propose that I came to learn about in a course I took…. If you are upset by and frustrated when someone is expressing their belief system or dare I say “religion” to you, go in and figure out what it is that is causing you to react? Maybe your reaction is internal frustration, or maybe you outwardly argue your truth back. Why? What is the purpose of trying to prove or justify that your way is the one way? Who is to say that there is one true religion or belief system that is “the one and only”? Are we really that naive and weak to think that one human being or group has the answer and another does not? Here it is “The Need To Prove Equals Proof Of Doubt”. If it didn’t frustrate you and trigger you, then why would you need to argue it? If you believed in it so whole heartedly, why does it matter what anyone else believes? Let it go, and let them go.
There is a common thread in all religions and spiritual practices. I encourage you to pull those out and create your own truth. What is your true purpose for being here on earth? How can you reach out and make a difference? More importantly, how can you show your love for your God/Allah/ Tao/Universe?…it’s all the same. It is important to accept others and their perspectives beliefs, all the while holding true to the fact that we all came from the same, and we will all return to the same….we are all of one.
